Between the ages of 17 and 19, adolescents have generally completed their physical development, they have greater control over their impulses, and they can prevent risky situations. Adolescents in this stage have their own individuality and they can decide on and adopt their own values. They begin to think about their life goals and their future (education, work, etc.) based on their decisions, ideals, and aspirations. Their peer groups and relationships are more stable. They also have greater emotional and physical independence from the person in charge or their caregivers.
